Banking. We handle commercial loans (including SBA loans) for area lenders and for many of our business clients. We work closely with our client and the lender, from the loan application process through the closing. Our responsibilities include providing all documents and materials requested by the loan commitment letter, reviewing and commenting on the draft loan documents, attending the closing and following up on post-closing requirements.

Business Law. Our firm represents small and medium-size business owners. Frequently, we begin this process by setting up a client's corporation or limited liability company and assisting with the client's purchase of an on-going business or real estate asset, including commercial loan representation. On an ongoing basis, we prepare contracts, leases and other documents for our business clients; provide legal advice on business issues as our clients' businesses mature; and represent them in litigation matters as needed.

Commercial and Appellate Litigation. Our commercial litigation experience includes zoning and land use litigation and appeals, breach of contract and fraud cases, collections, foreclosures, boundary line disputes, evictions and landlord-tenant matters. We also represent clients in appeals to the Connecticut Appellate Court, Connecticut Supreme Court and federal appellate courts.

Commercial Real Estate. Our commercial real estate practice is extensive and is often coupled with the purchase of a business at the same location. This practice area involves a variety of related areas, including commercial lease preparation and negotiations, environmental law and due diligence, conservation easements and restrictions, and zoning and land use matters.

Condominium Law and Community Associations. We can assist you in the documentation and land use approvals necessary to establish a condominium or planned unit development under Connecticut Common Interest Ownership Act. We also represent many established community associations and tax districts with ongoing issues, document revisions and commercial loans to fund community improvements.

Criminal & Motor Vehicle Defense. We are exceptionally experienced in handling criminal matters, from first-time offenses to murder cases. We know the options available to criminal defendants and we work hard to provide each client with the best representation possible in any criminal or motor vehicle matter.

Divorce and Family Law. Our firm handles divorce and child custody matters ranging from a relatively simple divorce with few assets involved to extremely complex family and asset situations.

Employment Law and Social Security Disability. Our firm can assist you with general employment issues such as review of employment contracts and termination documents, as well as representation for discrimination claims before the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities. We also handle Social Security disability applications from filing through the hearing process.

Estate Planning. Our basic estate planning package includes a will, living will, designation of health care agent, durable power of attorney and designation of conservator. For clients with substantial assets, we offer a variety of estate planning tools in order to reduce the size of your taxable estate and to ensure that your estate is distributed exactly as you wish it to be. Charitable trusts, life insurance trusts, conservations restrictions, family limited liability companies and partnerships may be used to achieve the results you desire.

Personal Injury. If you are injured in an automobile or other accident, you may be entitled to significant compensation. Probate. We are experienced in helping our clients with large and small estates, ancillary estates for Connecticut assets when the primary estate is being administered outside Connecticut, and estates for tax purposes only (typically when most assets are jointly held). Residential Real Estate. Residential closings are a key part of our practice, and we have many years experience in representing buyers and sellers throughout Connecticut . When we represent seller, our services include preparation of the contract, contract negotiations, obtaining payoff statements for existing mortgages, representation at closing, and making the mortgage payoffs.  When we represent buyer, our services include review and revision of the buyer's contract, obtaining the title search for the new property, working with the buyer's lender and representation at the closing.

Wrongful Death. If a member of your family is killed in an automobile accident or by someone else's negligent or wrongful act, we understand that nothing can truly compensate you for your loss. Nevertheless, your family's loss of income and personal hardship does have a value, and we will do our best to obtain maximum compensation for the estate and to assist you with the probate process. All wrongful death cases are handled on a contingency fee basis and no attorneys fees are due until there is a recovery, with the client responsible only for court costs and other out-of-pocket expenses if there is no recovery for the client.

Zoning and Land Use. Our firm has been well-known for its zoning and land use work for more than thirty years. We have obtained numerous subdivisions, special permit, site plan and inland wetlands approvals over the years in New Milford and in many area towns. Our commercial projects have included nationally known retail stores, golf courses, health clubs, and major residential projects; and we are experienced in working in tandem with our clients' engineers and other professionals.
